Wedding Ceremonies
Why would I choose an Independent Civil Celebrant for my wedding ceremony?
We all have an idea of our dream wedding. It could be in a church or religious building or at a venue that is licensed. But... it may be at that somewhere special, on a beach, at your home, in your garden, in the middle of a wood or where you went on your first date and for these types of ceremonies you need an independent civil celebrant. Your wedding day will be one of the most significant days in your life and I can conduct your ceremony wherever you wish. There simply are no boundaries.
You would need to register your marriage at a registry office in order for your marriage to be recognised by English Law and for a marriage certificate to be issued. This, however, is no different to registering a birth but celebrating your birthday on the day you were born or registering a death and having the funeral or memorial at a separate time. You can register your marriage leading up to your ceremony, on the day of your ceremony or following your ceremony - it is your choice when you do this.
You may be of different religions and want to include spiritual aspects from both faiths. You may want to include a symbolic ritual such as lighting a candle, a rose ceremony, a sand ceremony, hand fasting or jumping the broom. You may have a sentimental poem that you wish to be read or you may have a special song that you would like to be included. All of this is possible!
Your wedding can be at the place of your dreams, with a ceremony that is about you, with the music you want and at a time that suits.
Do you conduct same sex ceremonies?
Yes, of course. You would need to register your marriage at a registry office for the marriage certificate to be produced and for it to be recognised by English Law. The ceremony itself can be as relaxed or as formal as you wish and will be written to reflect the love and friendship you have in each other.
Will we meet you before the day?
On more than one occasion. I can meet with you, talk to you via telephone or via online video call before any booking takes place. The most important aspect for me is that you feel we can work together.
Once you have booked me to 'save your date' we will then meet again so I can hear all your stories and preferences to enable me to write your bespoke ceremony. There will then be your rehearsal and of course your special day.
What do your fees include?
Our initial meeting, call or online video call, the 'getting to know you' meeting, writing your ceremony, amendments to your script, a rehearsal, and conducting the ceremony itself. I am based in Cambridgeshire but would be more than happy to conduct ceremonies out of this area. Extra expenses may be incurred depending on the location.
