What is a naming ceremony?
A naming ceremony is an alternative to a christening and can take place at a venue of your choice. You may fancy a magical woodland ceremony, a village hall, hotel, your home or garden or that special place for your family.
Is there an age limit for a naming ceremony?
Absolutely not, anyone can have a naming ceremony. Generally they are a way of welcoming a new baby into the world, however, it is a perfect way of making promises to an older child too.
What is the content of a naming ceremony?
The ceremony itself can be as simple or as in depth as you wish. It would be bespoke to you. If you would like to have a religious element, that is possible. You can also include symbolic rituals such as sand, water, candles, trees or flowers. You may also wish for songs to be played, poems to be read, bubbles to be blown. The choice really is yours.
Can we have Godparents?
Yes, you can, on the other hand you may wish to call these people guardians, guide parents, good parents, sponsors, mentors or supporting adults.

You may wish to have a naming ceremony conducted after your wedding or renewal of vows ceremony. This is a really lovely way of bringing your family together.
